Sailing on Skye

There are many places to go sailing on skye depending on what your sailing.

For people sailing a small boat, Portree bay is an ideal place for those sailing small dinghys. There are many places to go in the bay like take a sail along Scorrybreck,go and venture out into the bigger boats and moorings towards the pier. You can also head out towarsd Camisban and maybe see some dolphins entering from the sound.

If you are in a bigger boat you can venture out towards Raasay and Rona through the sound to enjoy the wind and see the sights.

When in the sound you can head north from portree bay and you will come to Kilt rock and the waterfall there.
You will then (after sailing all the way up past the waterfall) come to Staffin bay.The bay holds many good sailing places. You can go up past staffin island towards Flodigarry island to see the seals that live on the back of the island. There is also a pair of sea eagles nesting there so be sure to look.

You can also head round the top end of skye (admiring the sights as you go) towards Uig. Once in Uig you will have to be very wary of fishing boats and also the ferry which runs from there to Lochmaddy. You can then cruise around the cliffs admiring the view.
